F5 provides growth capital for ambitious, experienced and purpose-driven entrepreneurs that are developing software platforms to address problems that exist in emerging markets, starting with South Africa.

Our thesis is that entrepreneurs should focus on solving problems that don’t exist in the “first world”. The “first world” can be defined as the 37 OECD countries plus China comprising 37% of the world’s population.

Focusing on uniquely “growing market” problems not only means less competition from tech companies in Silicon Valley and China, but a greater addressable market for global expansion, ie: Excluding China, there are 162 non-OECD countries amounting to 63% of the world’s population.

F5 plays an active role in helping its ventures by deploying financial, technical and management expertise to complement the strengths of the respective management teams, thereby accelerating growth whilst ensuring sustainability.
